Step into a world of musical enchantment with our Holiday Duet Course!Â

Delight in the joy of playing alongside another talented musician and immerse yourself in the magic of holiday melodies. Students will be thoughtfully partnered up to build the spirit of collaboration and teamwork through engaging group games and activities, and will learn to play their favourite holiday songs & seasonal melodies alongside other aspiring musicians. The primary focus of the course is to introduce the concept of playing music together in duet formations, fostering teamwork and collaboration while cultivating individual instrumental skills.

This course culminates with a chance to perform your duet at our 2023 Winter Concert!

No prior duet experience is required, making this course an excellent fit for all instrumentalists aged 7 and above. However, students should have some basic knowledge of their chosen instrument and the ability to read simple music notation.

This course includes a performance opportunity at our Winter Concert (December 2nd, 2023), as well as a dress rehearsal the day prior.
COURSE OBJECTIVES

Holiday Repertoire: Students will explore a rich selection of iconic holiday tunes from around the world, including Christmas carols, Hanukkah songs, winter solstice melodies, and more. The repertoire will be carefully curated to cater to various instrumental abilities, ensuring a rewarding experience for all participants.

Duet Dynamics: Through guided instruction and practical exercises, students will learn the art of playing duets. They will explore different aspects of duet dynamics, such as synchronizing tempo, dynamics, and articulations, which are essential for creating harmonious musical renditions.

Instrumental Techniques: Regardless of their instrument and skill level, students will receive individualized attention to refine their instrumental techniques. From mastering basic finger positions to honing more advanced playing skills, the course aims to help every participant develop their musical proficiency.

Holiday Music Theory: Understanding the theory behind holiday melodies can enhance the students' musical comprehension and appreciation. Students will be introduced to fundamental concepts like key signatures, time signatures, and musical phrasing to deepen their understanding of the music they play.

Performance Opportunities: The course will culminate in an exciting holiday concert where students will have the chance to showcase their newfound duet-playing skills to their family and friends. This celebratory event will help boost their confidence and encourage a lifelong love for making music.
