Creative Music and Me

Updated: Apr 22, 2023

Here at Be Sharp, we love playing music AND we love finding new ways to express our creativity. Our Creative Music and Me class does both- that’s probably why it’s such a studio favourite! We have so much fun exploring music, making crafts, and dancing. Every class is an adventure, and while we do follow a routine, no two classes are the same

When our musicians are arriving to class, we always have a colouring station set up. This is a great way to warm up to the space and socialize. We also have music playing, and percussion instruments the kids can play and dance to if they don't feel like colouring. Then, it’s time to get started!

All the kids know that class is starting when we start to sing our hello song! We sing the same hello song every session to create consistency and routine (and as a bonus- singing the same song has been proven to build singing confidence!).

Another one of our favourite activities? Dancing! I often introduce scarves and ribbons as movement props and other fun tools. Sometimes we even learn some short choreographed dances! Each class is taught in one season, and they’re all super fun and easy to follow along. We love to theme these dances based on holidays and the time of year!

Every three to four weeks, we explore a new instrument as a group. We do this by learning all about the instrument, and playing some songs! These instruments vary from the guitar, to the ukulele, the drums, the violin, and more! With my help, children can hold and play the instruments. We also learn music through various percussion instruments, such as the boomwhackers, handbells, and xylophone!

Our classes include some rotating activities, to keep each class fun, fresh and unique. We do some musical crafts, sing-alongs, and sometimes we even do acting activities! Incorporating other aspects of the arts into our Creative Music and Me classes is a great way to help our mini musicians explore their creative sides.

All musical crafts are quality, playable instruments. Sing-alongs include all the children's favourites. The acting activities will help the children get out of their shells.
