Music and Watercolour (Art)

Updated: Apr 22, 2023

Combining music and watercolor painting can be a unique and exciting experience for toddlers. By listening to music, toddlers can use their imagination and respond to the rhythms, beats, and emotions evoked by the music through their brush strokes and color choices. This activity can help to develop their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination while encouraging self-expression and creativity. It can also provide a fun and engaging way for toddlers to learn about colors, textures, and composition.

Prep time: 5 min.

Craft time: 10-15 min

Cost: Less than $10

Materials:

  • Canvas

  • Watercolour Paint

  • Paint Brushes

  • Music

Directions:

Set up your water, paint and canvas in front of you and/ or your child. Once you play begin your music start paint. There are no restrictions or rules just paint what you feel in the music.

I suggest using instrumental music with lots of movement. A couple of my favourites are Beethoven's Fifth and Vivaldi's Four Seasons.

Enjoy!
